The Ada Lovelace RTX 4090 Owners Thread

How's everyone finding their cards after a few weeks of use?

Had my Strix 4090 since the 13th. Done a load of gaming, absolute pleasure to play almost all titles @ 4k near or above 100FPS without DLSS. Must say it's been quite strange seeing Nvidia/4090 critics/AMD fans spend so much time on forums whining/complaining about 4090, 16 pin, price, 4080, meanwhile the owners are just gaming away in GPU heaven :D

Settled on a power limit of 70%, this decreases power consumption to 320-350W and I only lose 1-4% performance, which is not noticeable to me the vast majority of the time. Definitely the sweet spot for my card.
I wouldn't get too carried away Dave Lol, it's just a 'good' graphics card.

I'm happy with the looks and acoustics and cooling performance of the GameRock, now having tried a few different 4090s.

It runs MW2 very nicely at high FPS, the only downside was the Nvidia driver issues in that title. However, I see a driver came out to address those issues specially which I will try later today.

The connector issue is definitely a concern though for the money the card cost and that should definitely not be downplayed. No issues with it at my end though so far.

Having tried frame generation (FG) in Spiderman 3, that's also a nothing burger. Would rather play the game native as the added latency just feels like you are playing at lower FPS than what is shown on screen. Not sure why there is any hype surrounding it tbf, but I guess people see the higher FPS counter and that's all that matters.

The card is powerful enough that the need for DLSS and FG is removed, which is great as I'm not a fan of image/latency degradation which those technologies cause.

Even in games that have no issues hitting 4K 120 I’ll still use DLSS on quality as I find the image quality just fine even on a 43” monitor 4ft away, plus it lowers my power consumption a nice amount and the GPU runs cooler so an even quieter system.

As for frame generation I love it, tried it in Spiderman and A Plague Tale: Requiem, honestly I find the latency absolutely fine even with vsync forced on via the Nvidia control panel. With a mouse there feels like there’s a tiny amount of latency but nothing that would bother me, but on a controller which is my primary input its a non issue. For lower end cards going forward it’s amazing feature to have, can see next gen consoles in the future adopting this one for smother frame rates.

Flight & Space Sims basically, where the latency isn't an issue compared to FPS titles.

Seasonic are sending out free 12VHPWR cables for select PSUs (Using a Seasonic PX 1300W Prime Titanium) bought within the last year or so for the 4090.

Mine cannot come soon enough as the current adapter cable is a bit of an eye sore. :)

keep this to general owners conversation not petty childish squabbles.
Hello?? Have you met OcUK forums before?

To get on the Roll of Honour all you have to do is post a pic with your user name on it of your RTX 4090

I grabbed the Trinity 4090, but after reading how its power limited to 450w I'll be returning it for a different 4090 with 4 8pin and a better power limit. Definitely sad hence Ive wanted to throw this in my rig(might just to test) but I'll probably stop by MC tom morning(15min away).

Very happy with my FE 4090. Have been stress testing and checked the connector yesterday with no signs of melting. Just waiting on my Bequiet 12vhpwr lead which appears to have been delayed. MSFS still very tough on full ultra and at fully loaded (mainly unoptimised) airports. That said even with low FPS it feels a lot smoother. I’ve actually turned off the FPS counter now as it becomes obsessive and just plan to enjoy it!

Are there any 4090 owners who remember what their VRAM usage was for any titles with a 3090 and can compare the 4090? I remember some chatter about improved memory compression prior to release but from what I can tell, it was only an assumption, not based on anything from Nvidia.
