Just noiticed the ticking noise doesn't happen when i lay the case horizontal so the card is horizontal but it's a vertical layout so can't be having it.

I think it is something to do with not having water in the card but it is also something that should not happen whether the card is upright or on its side.

I once had a watercooled motherboard that made ticking sounds depending on what orientation it was used in and what load it was under.

Does owning a defective one count?

I got the STRIX 1080Ti OC, and it's defective. Fine on desktop if you do nothing; put any load on, and it'll artifact and crash the system. Then refuse to boot with display signal; unless left alone for a while. I guess it's overheating somewhere, since GPUZ showed the GPU temps were fine. Tested in two systems, one Intel in sig, and another Ryzen one as well.

Hard crashes when trying to run Unigine SuperPosition, or games. Seems my 980Ti just refuses to die. Been going since it's launch in 2015.

Already started the RMA process; looks like a week at best before I get card that'll run that new monitor well.

My friends think I'm cursed. I build nearly all their systems, and sell them parts, and their stuff is still kicking after all these years( some still on 2500Ks ). I seem to have an 80% chance of getting defective GPUs; and 50% for monitors.

My last 390X died, my Titan X Maxwell was DOA, and my Fury X started artifacting after 8 months as well. While the 980Ti's ( had two in SLI until last year ) I got on launch keep slogging through all sorts of abuse. Same for the 980 I sold a friend, and even my old GTX 580; which is now in my oldman's machine keeps on pushing through.
That last card will even run SuperPosition at medium settings

Heck I still have a little ASUS 4670 that's been my backup card since it was released well.

I will wait until your RMA has gone through before putting you on TROH as you may end up with a different 1080 Ti SKU.

If you really want me to put your Strix on TROH that is also not a problem as the only qualification for getting on TROH is owning the card.

That has to be more than just bad luck.

So far so good! No dead pixels, runs at 100Hz really well. So darn huge, my 27" 144Hz is now in portrait mode on the side ( TN sucks for that

), and only some BLB in the top left and bottom. Nothing major, and I couldn't notice it last night. Only really visible if I force pure black turn off the lights and look through the phone or camera.

Might get an Ergotron MX arm for the monitor, or something to allow me to rise up and move back my soundbar. As the stand on the PG348Q is rather obtrusive.
I got that Asus Stealth mousepad with the order as well. The top left corner is fudged and bent upward. Worst complaint of the monitor order haha.

Edit: Oh yeah, and the anti glare coating is really light. Not sure what to make of it. I'm use to Dell, and AOC's heavier coatings that's more grainy. So it's a bit more reflective than I'm use it; but not bad.

Actually looks like the Belkin Anti-glare screen protector on my iPhone.

Yeah the Asus is outstanding man, really really nice. I've actually gone back to 4k 16:9 with the LG 43UD79-B as a second screen. Stunning monitor and not bad at all for gaming (I'm a sucker for big screen gaming), esp as it has a 10.7ms input lag too. All-in-all very very happy, and may even replace my other LG! Don't think I can let that one go though, it's pretty damn awesome :cool:

I think there is some Length / Width confusion here. I'm pretty sure the FTW3 is one of the best, if not the best Dual slot cards, so it's longer, not wider. The Aorus is 2.5-3 slot card (55 mm).
