Hi guys. Thinking about purchasing a 2080Ti for 1440p 144Hz monitor, but I've come across a couple of reviews that say 2080Ti is overkill for this resolution, and the gains from 1080Ti are not even close from those at 4K. What do you think?

Not overkill at all.

If you want to run a 144Hz monitor @1440p not even a 2080 Ti is going to be able to deliver the frames with very high settings in some of the latest games.

Make sure you use a very quick CPU too as clockspeed is important to avoid bottlenecking at 144 fps or higher.

My wife and I have decided to cancel our RTX 2080 and RTX 2080Ti orders - simply tired of waiting. Ordered both on the launch date aug. 20th and now both orders got post poned for the 5th time Gigabyte RTX 2080Ti Windforcemaybe in stock 15th of november and MSI RTX 2080 Duke maybe in stock 12th of december.... heck no. Waiting almost 6 months for a RTX is ridiculous.

I decided not to pre order on launch day.

If I get a 2080 Ti I will buy one of the better ones like the EVGA FTW3 when they are available in the next few weeks.

I notice that FE cards are now available to order but events have moved on with other AIB cooling solutions that will be on the market soon.

It’s a brave man who flashes the BIOS with a non-FE BIOS on their >£1100 card.

I would rather get a card with a bios I like, for example one of the EVGA cards.

For TROH

So far card seems great. Build quality is excellent, very weighty although i will be fitting a waterblock very soon.

Nice improvement over my 1080Ti. The witcher 3 for example (and games like it) was getting 110fps with my 1080Ti at maximum overclock. 2080Ti is at 155fps with havent fully tested but at 2025mhz at around 75c. This will be much needed for current games at 4k and while an expensive upgrade, is a nice improvement. Is a bit of new shiny tech to use as had pascal since launch. Looking forward to seeing what DLSS can do.

Only downside i can see to the FE card is no fan control so the card is constantly sat at around 1500rpm at idle with the card at 30c. Which is audible over everything else in the system, but not by much. If i could control the fans i'd be tempted to keep it on air but as is will be fitting a waterblock next week.

The card itself is reasonably quiet even under high load, not much noisier than my old gaming X. Minimal whine which is excellent. Old 1080Ti was quite noisy in terms of buzz/whine.

So far very happy. Will be putting it to good use later on .

Will probably stick an update next week with some photos once i have the waterblock fitted.

Managed to get my hands on a STRIX 2080 Ti for £1,263. A fairly beefy upgrade from my STRIX 1080.

Not that happy with the overclock - have managed +140/+1500 - but where it does shine is higher stable boost clocks due to the increased cooling.

Benches very similar to the dual card ASUS, but at lower clock/memory.

How does it perform in Timespy Extreme?

Edit: it seems my overclock wasn't applied for some reason, will try again later.

Definitely running stock there.

Going forward Timespy Extreme is the bench to use for modern hardware as it runs at 2160p using DX12 (you don't need a monitor that big) and puts very high demands on the CPU and GPU.

One card is faulty though, one fan has a tiny grating sound even spinning it quickly freehand and the logo powers on red for a second then turns orange and stays orange. Other card seems ok for now, can't bench in SLI as I'm waiting for the bridge as they were out of stock when I originally bought the card.

Hi all, got a 2080ti last week, can someone take a look at my Time Spy run and see if the Graphics test 1 and 2 FPS seems right?

Can someone else please run Time Spy and see what you get? Someone said mine seems low and I compared it to another system, link below and that run had 50+% better fps and its the same CPU and GPU

Full specs are 7700k @ 4.8 Gigabyte Z270 Gaming K3 board and 16gb Corsair 3000MHZ DDR4

Your score is fine for a 2080 Ti

The other one looks very dodgy as the user would need extreme cooling like LN2 to get it that high.
