Got it sorted in the end.

I had the GPU in the lower slot to show more of the motherboard off and it was actually the U2 slot that was preventing the card from being placed fully in the slot.

Moved it to the upper slot and with a little bit or force it's in properly now!

My replacement strix OC 1080ti just turned up, seems to be working spot on thank god, but in hellblade with everything maxxed out im only getting 80-90fps when im sure i was getting 100+ at 1440p ultrawide.
I straight swapped the card over and installed latest Nvidia drivers, anything else i should have done? Its a straight swap for the same card

I'm running at i7 6700k, even at factory clock i sustain 60fps at 4k, even with hairworks. You should be good.

I tested my 6700k by underclocking to 1.0GHz and it still didn't bottleneck my 1080ti on the Heaven 4k benchmark.

4k is all on the GPU, so any bottleneck you do see I would expect you to see with your current GPU.

Im only on an i5 4690k @4.4ghz, i play on an acer x34a at 3440x1440 and it caps the monitor at 100hz on pretty much every game.
New cpu upgrades gotta wait a few months.

That's not your CPU capping the monitor, it's how Gsync works.

Thank you mate!! Seems like a real nasty myth that everyone says you need the latest and greatest processor or the CPU will bottleneck this beast at 4k.

Any advice on quietest cards? I have a GTX 670 at present asus which is quite quiet. is this loud AF given the power its packing or only under full load?



Current 1080ti prices I think are £100 too expensive, I wish I'd bought them 2 months ago when they were a bit more reasonable.

That's not your CPU capping the monitor, it's how Gsync works.

Sorry I didn’t literally mean capping at 100fps, I meant it’s spot on and my rig maxes the monitor out on everything at ultra.

My card is reporting 2560 CUDA cores and 8gb GDDR5 - Looks like I've been sold a 1080 in a 1080Ti box from a well know retailer!
