What are you folKs getting boost no overclock?
4090 tuf 2745 but never drops, out of the box
That is quite low tbf especially for an FE.Sob sob sob. 4090FE 2655mhz as standard. Overclocks to 2880mhz stable in everything. Deffo got a gimp card.
I get 2760mhz boost by default on my 4090 FE which I was very pleased with. I did try an overclock (at default power) and it is happy to do anything up to 2995mhz, for some reason it insta crashes at 3000mhz even if I increase power. As for memory overclock, it seems very stable although I haven't tried pushing it past a +600mhz.
Because a normal PCE-e 8-pin connector can only deliver 150W.This is potentially a stupid question but if you don't ask you don't learn...
Am I right in thinking that for a 4090, you could pick up a corsair RM1000x PSU with the Corsair PCIe 5.0 12VHPWR cable and it should be fine?
If that's the case, why do you need 3 or 4 8pin PCIe connectors normally, but the corsair adapter is only 2 8pin from the PSU?
The Corsair cable is rated at 600w which the psu can deliver via the two connections. My Antec cable does the same thing. This is potentially a stupid question but if you don't ask you don't learn...

Yeah, I only overclocked to run a few benchmarks then set everything back to normal again.Memwise I can go 1000 but it makes zero difference on my benchmarks so I don't bother. Core wise I settled on 2910 at 80% power. Not sure why I even bothered raising the core anyway, not like it struggles playing most PC potato games.
@Kaapstad You managed to get your 4090 FE yet ?
Not yet, still waiting to catch them with some in stock.
Having said that if something like the rumoured 4 slot Titan were to launch in the meantime, I would be all over that.
Yes and no. I run similar settings (70% power limit / + 140 core / +1400 ram) and it's faster than stock with lower power consumption, but if you run something that needs lots of power (dying light 2 with RT for example) those clocks are gonna drop rapidly cause of the power limit.I just dropped the power limit to 70% then overclocked the core by 150mhz on my 4090 FE and everything seems stable, and my boost has gone up from 2760 to 2890mhz (power draw is now about 300w). Are there any disadvantages to doing this?
Thank you, that makes sense. I didn’t try a ram overclock, have you found this makes a difference?Yes and no. It makes a much bigger difference than the core this time around, and the difference in power draw by ocing your ram is negligible, something like 8 to 15 watts.Thank you, that makes sense. I didn’t try a ram overclock, have you found this makes a difference?
That’s really good, I’ll give it a go. Thanks. It makes a much bigger difference than the core this time around, and the difference in power draw by ocing your ram is negligible, something like 8 to 15 watts.
If i remember the numbers correctly I got 3% improvement by core ocing and around 8% by ram ocing
That looks very good. I’ve never tried a vertical mount, what one did you use did it effect temperatures?Got the bracket so no more worrying bend on my cable by the connector. Thanks @Drumroll for the recommendation.
