just out of interest, why are people still buying 1080TI with new GTX 2080 just round the corner?

Im tempted by the TitanXP star wars edition but with new GFX cards due to arrive in few months not sure its worth it

I'm assuming TITAN xp is approximately equal to GTX 2080 given past NVIDIA releases?

We don't know 100% there will be a 2080 but its looking likey
We don't know how fast such a card will be
We don't know what the street price will be or the avaialibity compared to say the current fromum deals

in short there are to many unknowns

No one knows when the new cards will be released. There is no current competition so nvidia have no rush unfortunately.

Not to mention prices on new tech are always sky high. if they are good at mining and reasonably priced we will be waiting for stock for 6 months. Or you will be paying 1k plus for one. Sad times.

I for one am waiting for the 2080Ti or whatever it will be called.

The TXP is 5% faster than a 1080Ti with an extra 1gb of memory.

I was going to get a EVGA King Pin 1080TI but then saw the TitanXP Star wars. I hate decisions lol

I had a 1080ti since launch and it's perfect for me 144hz 1440p and the card was failing on me so with the inflated prices almost as much as a titan xp i went for it.

Then a 1080ti i wanted came in stock £150 cheaper so i ordered that and tried to cancel the xp but it was too late so i've got a new 1080ti gaming installed, a Titan XP still in the box and a FTW3 waiting to be rma'd.

I had a TX since launch, then was sampled a 1080Ti Strix so have been using that...then the TXP came along and I didn't see the point of it.

Now, it is all about the waiting game lol.

And yes, the deals on the Strix are well and truly gone.

My pc has been down gaming wise since Saturday night so i think if that XP had arrived first thing in morning before the Ti i couldn't have resisted opening it and i would be returning the Ti.

Just out of interest what is that plugged into the end of your GPU? is that to change the direction of the power connectors?

Yeah, pretty subtle and clean for a blower. I'm dreading going back to air for the new ones whilst waiting for blocks

I'm finding this pretty decent for noise and temps, i'm using a 1/1 fan profile and it tops out at around 70 and that's running at almost 2ghz and i've even got a huge res blocking direct airflow.

I'll probably get another block for it but i'm fine with air for now, i'm just glad to be up and running again.

My Strix on EK block has gotten a lot warmer of late. Water temps are where they've always been at load (27-29c) so may need to repaste. Normally never see above 35c often, but a few titles lately have pushed it up to nearly 50c which is as high as I've ever seen a single card go on water (in my own rigs)

Still, stability is solid at 2100Mhz @ 1.062v.

Conductonaut will sort it. Best stuff I've ever used on GPU dies. Think i saw around 8c off the load temps on my old waterblocked 1080Ti's (which already had kryonaut on).

I keep thinking shal i go custom loop again lol, then talking myself out of it as im pretty impressed with how quiet my current setup is in comparison. CPU at 5.1ghz and card is between 2038-2050mhz at around 70c on stock fan profile.

I can't hear it in games at all. Do miss my custom loop though, mainly just tinkering around with it.
