Well I got it in and running already lol

Been running haven benchmark and no issues with my 6700k @ 4200mhz

I undervolted it to 1050mv as well and so far seems stable.

Vega 64 is weird card, requiring more than brute force.
You can go all way to 970mv before it start crashing at default 1630 P7 clock. Of course it wont work at that clock, but it will try to do as high as possible given the voltage cap.

I have some overclocks posted on page 284 with 1030mv and 1652 clock (P7), resulting to stable 1620s at 240W on the nitro+. While another user got 26011 graphical score on Firestrike with the same settings. (thats higher than GTX1080 @ 2164)

Yea I'll have to experiment a bit more. But with the reduced voltage it's a lot quieter too.

Yeah. Is very efficient card if you do not try to overclock it like an Nvidia GPU. All summer during the head, I had the card running at Power save mode, even when watercooled. It;s clocks were pretty high, and while power consumption was cut almost by half, the fps drop was less than 10%!!!

No problems on furmark either. Dropping voltage does knock some core mhz off, but the difference is pretty much non-existent. I'm using a Red Devil card btw.

Out of interest why did people here buy a Vega rather than a GTX, considering most reviews say the Vega wasn't that great in comparison?

I'll start... I prefer AMD's support of open technologies such as freesync, OpenCL and open sourcing their drivers in Linux. AMD cards have hardware mixed rotation which will allow me to use my PLP setup when I eventually move the PC to a larger room. Finally I like supporting the underdog to help with competition.

Gents, as long as you do not try to run your cards on Turbo mode (276W) or some custom overclocking without downvolting you should be fine.

Power Save mode needs only 176-180W an d the card will be running at 1400-1500 on air. Balanced mode is around 240s.
Also you can tweak the cards for higher clocks and less power at 240W-250W also. As long as you do not go full blast for 300W+ you should be OK with good 600-650W.
Assuming you do not have some intel overclocked monstrocity burning 200W on it;s own. (4790K, 7700K the upcoming 9900K).

Would that still be true for my 550W PSU or is it too much to hope for. The card itself is a significant upgrade cost and the additional outlay for a new PSU is something I'd like to avoid...

for me i bought a 34" 21:9 freesync monitor to see what this adaptive sync malarky was about, cant be without it now as screen tearing was a bugbear of mine.
so i am limited to AMD gpu's while i have this..
happy with it so no complaints..

I'd had enough of all the geforce cards I bought going unstable on boost clocks after a while. I don't get the problem with AMD :/

Plus you get a lot more for your money when you look at it.

After overclocking my old Dell from 60hz to 75hz, the difference is night and day.
I can't imagine the sunshine you lot with 144hz freesync must be basking in, But I want some.

Lets hope Gibbo pulls another good deal out the bag.

i sold my 1080 to get vega 64 for one reason only and that's freesync it really is a lot smoother with it. i got the 1080 because i sold my 480 for a nice price (nearly double what i paid) during the mining boom but really did miss freesync hence why i went back.

Same as yourself except I don’t know what PLP is. Also price is a large factor when you consider FreeSync too

I actually sold my Vega recently and bought an RTX. I won't be needing Freesync anymore since the 2080 (unlike Vega) should be powerful enough max the 100hz of my 3440x1440p Freesync Ultrawide.

My decesion was based on wanting more FPS and no Vega 64 successor likely to be released until 2020.

I owned Vega for a total of 8 months. It was a fun ride.

PLP is Three monitors arranged in Portrait, Landscape, Portrait mode. They were how people gamed in wide-screen before ultrawide because aavailable. So PLP is fairly dead now. But I have the monitors and don't plan on upgrading them yet.

AMD support mixed rotation in hardware so you stretch the game across all three monitors. NVidia can do that too but the screens have to all be in the same orientation. With more modern AMD cards you can have hem in any orientation and the GPU handles it.

Apologies for the crosspost, but in case someone missed it in the amd drivers thread I'll ask again in here:

A recent development on my vega 64 liquid - memory clocks on wattman no longer stick. I don't know if it's with a recent driver update, only noticed this evening. I can change them, but as soon as I leave wattman they appear to reset to default. Also I had profiles with memory clocks set and loading them does not appear to set the memory clocks.

Anyone else, or just me?
