After waiting 5months for it to get in stock, I hope this new RTX 2080Ti will last me for some years rather than days like my former RTX 2080Ti.

Hi all,
Been too busy enjoying my new rig to post, but here's a potato pic of my setup.

I've upgraded from a 2500k/GTX580 setup, bought just before my son was born.
He's now 7 years old and enjoying Roblox/Minecraft/Rocket League - now in 4k on our big telly, the lucky bugger.

I'm gradually easing myself back into full time gaming (I'm retired), so hoping to make the most of the rather large purchase I recently made.

Hi all, recently joined the 2080ti club. See someone has fitted an AiO on their card, is this a common practice with these cards/people here? It does run hotter then I'd like but had never considered this before. Usually when I think of a water cooled card it is a custom setup and not an AiO

Been using an AIO cooler since 970 and have used one on 980ti 1080ti 2080 and now 2080ti. Before that full custom loop and to be honest I don’t see much of a difference between the two apart from the price.

But if u go AIO make sure it’s 240mm I’m seeing 26 idle 45 gaming. I might even go 360mm

What are you using? I've done a bit of reasearch and see the G12/Kraken combo come up a lot, but it has some issues. The VRM for the cards is on the otherside compared to other cards so they aren't directly cooled, is that correct? Without cooling this, the card throttles and wil decrease the life span of the card from my understanding.

I don’t think it throttles but I’ve seen evidence that shows it won’t overclock as high as it could with the left vrm/memory not actively cooled. The lifespan issue is very hard to measure

I would never leave the VRM's etc without a heatsink on the G12 just not worth the risk especially on a £1000 card. The stock cooler covers them for a reason. Especially with the 2080ti having some on the left hand side of the GPU where no airflow is directed. Also my G12 A brackets didnt fit the holes were too small so I take it the G12 you buy now takes this into consideration ? I too have had one in different versions from a 970, before that made my own with the tie wrap method.

@Kaapstad you can take my 2080ti off the TROH it went pop and has gone back under RMA. Wish I'd never bought it now.

I've seen people say that the AMD brackets fit the 2080 Ti cards better? How is everyone else handling the VRM cooling? I've seen some pictures of people basically botching some fans onto it and it looks horrible!

Yes you use the A bracket (AMD) but the bottom of the bracket that fits onto the board doesnt seem to sit right with my card (EVGA 2080ti Black) meaning the pump doesnt sit on the GPU properly. I had it fitting fine on my 1080ti but then again that cost me £480 it just doesnt seem okay to try and make it fit on a £1000 gpu. Hats off to those who are doing it but I dont like the idea personally.

The g12 is not an elegant solution for a 2080ti. Hopefully they release an update

With the G12 bracket AMD one fitted to the EVGA 2080ti there is a bit of interference with the fit between the bracket and the front cooling plate so u can do the following

1. Mod the bracket just means grinding a little off.

2. Add a copper shim 31mm x 25mm x 0.9 mm had to do this with the G10 on the 1080TI

3. Remove the front cooling plate but then u would need some little heat sinks.

best option being 1 unless your Dremel skills are crap then it be 2 as to other cards im not sure as I only ever buy EVGA
