Yup afraid the latest fast team page had you at this:

87 booyaka 99519 96

rather than the main stats page which had:

87 booyaka 101279 97

at least it should mean you get your 100k next week and your 120k the week after :p

Gazza has some seriouis output going !!

This week's been a bit up and down with all the reconfiguring and CPU swaps. I'm also in a holding pattern, waiting on some hardware for the other six nodes, but should up there in a week or two :D

As always uncle rich, thanks for the weekly news !!!

Hey, top 20 again! I like these new WUs :D

Really tempted by a quad-core CPU. £165 inc delivery I have seen it for.

Bah, I should stick with my own little promise and wait until next pay day as I am still pretty close to my overdraft limit.

I've got the new EE X2 3800+ up and running now. It's been up for 18 hours and it's 39% of the way though a 1760 point p2653. That works out to about 915 ppd. Not too bad for £80. It's going to be the most overpowered MythTV frontend in the history of overpowered MythTV frontends. :p

The custom case I'm building for it is coming along nicely as well. I've got some preliminary ideas in my thread in the Small Form Factor forum and I'll do a full writeup in Case Central when I have enough to post.

Thanks for the news as always, Rich. Keep it crunching, everybody. :)

Hi all

I am new to this sort of thing but I have just started my PS3 on its first work unit and I just wanted to check I have set it up right.

I have the team set to team 10, is that right? It doesn't give me many other options. (are there any I have missed?)

Any help is greatly appreciated. :)

Hi and welcome :)

Yip we're Team 10.

I've no idea which options the PS3 client gives you tho, other than user-name and team. But if it's crunching away then everything's probably fine.

Hi :)

It basically gave me no options, it just started crunching away. I have set it to team 10 manually (which it now comes up with) and set the 'Name' to OweO (same as my PSN ID). There is no option for username?! so I assume the 'Name' is the username.

It seems to be crunching pretty quickly (I have read that the PS3 is considerably quicker at folding than say my C2D @ 3ghz due to its cell processor design)

Anywhoo I will leave it on overnight and hopefully I will have done my first work unit :)

Cheers

Yes, that's right. You also need to set the User ID to something that's unique to you (oweneades, for example), so that you can see yourself in the stats and in the weekly news bulletin produced by rich99million. A PS3 is very simple to set up for Folding, but one thing you have to remember is that, unlike on PCs, Folding is not a background activity. You can't play games and Fold at the same time. If you leave your PS3 on 24/7 it will complete roughly 3 WUs a day (each worth 287 points, giving a PPD of nearly 900).

Hope this helps. And, of course, ..... WELCOME ON BOARD!! :D

Sounds like you've set it up fine. Note your folding name doesn't have to match your PSN ID.

As ms9cw says, you get roughly 287 points per work unit and a work unit takes 7-8 hours.

Make sure you're folding with the latest PS3 client (v1.1) ; if your playstation firmware is up to date then you should be. :)
