New drivers don't seem to address anything I'm suffering from (idle power issue still), so I'll give em a miss for now.
speaking of that my card is drawing 20-31w idle in windows and a few web tabs open, much better than the 60-80w of drivers old

First new system in 6 years and she flies!
Ryzen 5 7600x
sapphire mba 7900xt
32gb DDR5 Kingston fury beast 6000mhz
1TB WD SN770 NVME drive
It's pot luck on every GPU sadly. I've had 4x 4090s and they all whined. The Nitro XTX has the least of them all, but it still has some. As does every high end GPU.

I've got no complaints about my 4090 at all, but I do call it as I see it and they all whine to some degree. And I thought you were an AMD fan boy![]()

Chase it up with OcuK and see what they say. I doubt Sapphire will be too much help and will eventually redirect you to the retailer.@LtMatt still no word from ocuk about my MBA RMA request, tbh around 2 weeks have gone by so i dont think i'll get one, i have contacted sapphire directly, they have asked me for a gpu-z log of the card which i have provided, just waiting to see what they say, if i get no joy from sapphire i'll buy a ek block and then sell on the forums, and keep my devil card (like the mba it'll be under watercooling too)
Should be fine, but be aware that Afterburner can interfere which AMD Tuning settings, so make sure you have it set like this and never touch anything in Afterburner in terms of clock speeds, voltages, fan etc. Also make sure erase settings at start-up is disabled.I know people use Adrenaline to OC the cards, but is there any harm also using Afterburner to monitor temps, usage and fan speeds?
Yeah, I was worried about them clashing. I just like the graphs and stuff that Afterburner does.Should be fine, but be aware that Afterburner can interfere which AMD Tuning settings, so make sure you have it set like this and never touch anything in Afterburner in terms of clock speeds, voltages, fan etc. Also make sure erase settings at start-up is disabled.

Understandable. Check my sneaky edit above too.Yeah, I was worried about them clashing. I just like the graphs and stuff that Afterburner does.

I've tried the MBA, Nitro, TUF and the Merc. I rate them in this order:@LtMatt as you now have 4 7900xtx cards which one is the top performing for the money out of all of them? Is it the nitro+? I'm asking as I'm tempted to skip a 4090FE purchase and grab a nitro+.

Asking about the monitor? No, not had chance yet. Tempted to leave it as it is for the minute. It's a fresh install so a lot of stuff needs doing and I don't want to spend any more time than necessary messing about. New drivers might fix it too...Understandable. Check my sneaky edit above too.![]()
Lol, I probably sound like a lunatic Gerard but before you call the men in white coats let me pitch my defence to you. Caution, wall of text incoming...FOUR 4090's?? Do you just go overkill on every gpu launch and have to have a stockpile of them sitting around?
). This card was mostly fine apart from bad coil whine and being stuck at 450W power limit. The issue I had was that the cards RGB software was unusable. Just didn't work, so had to return it. Second 4090 was a 4090 Suprim X I purchased from @Too Tall and I was happy as its one of the better 4090s. Sadly it had a fault and would overheat reaching 90c just running Timespy once at stock. Too Talll had a second Suprim X andhis only hit 63c, so that went back. Then I ordered the legendary GameRock (a GPU generally only used by legends - excluding @Dicehunter though as he's started using that FG tripe with it
), this card arrived from a UK retailer who I shall not name (not OcuK) and they sent it out with no packaging, was just the box covered in a thin layer of cardboard. The card worked fine however I noticed the backplate was slightly bent. I assumed it was damaged on route. I opened up an RMA with that retailer and had a nightmare getting my money back as they tried to claim I'd damaged the card. Absolute cheek! Luckily I paid via PayPal and they sided with me as I had pictures of when it arrived etc and proof I'd returned it to them in suitable packaging. That dragged on for weeks btw. In the meantime and quite impressed with the GameRock, I decided to order another one. This one was working fine and a good clocker too, but one of the fans developed a fault and started whining and rattling. It was unbearable. That went back for a RMA and as I'd only had it a week or two I got a refund. In the meantime again I decided well, third times a charm with the ol GameRock and prices had come down a little from over £2K for a 4090 at this point, so I went with another GameRock, this time from OcuK. However after ordering from OcuK, I found another UK retailer (no names mentioned please don't ban me oh holy stairlift don) selling the same card £100 cheaper. I got one from there and sent a web note to OcuK to cancel my order. For some reason 24 hours later OcuK disaptched the fifth 4090 and my mrs took delivery and opened it. She was curious why I had so many 4090s arriving and at 2K a pop who can blame her.
Thankfully OcuK arranged to come and collect it and back it went unused. So the fourth 4090 was a keeper and all is well till this day. Bar the coil whine they all have, but since all my GPUs have whined I'm not too bothered about that. The MBA is a very solid card if you don't have the tjunction/vapor chamber issue. You should be happy you got a good one.I called OcUK to request a return & refund of my MBA XTX yesterday and I was told I couldn't unless there was a physical problem/issue with the card. As my junction temps appear to be rock solid (i've tried everything I can to get it to overheat and the damn thing just won't do it), I can't really say its faulty.
Does this mean I have to live with it?
Agree, mine was top notch from a build and quality perspective and no temp issues with hotspot below 90c.The MBA is a very solid card if you don't have the tjunction/vapor chamber issue. You should be happy you got a good one.
