Hi everyone, first time I've posted in a long time, I bought a Gainward Phantom 4090 today after some research, which arrives tomorrow, I'm now getting buyers remorse before it's even arrived! I've read reports of noisy fans and coil wine amongst some good stuff am I just getting worried over nothing? I see it's not the most popular card either, which I know, but now I've parted with my cash I'm bricking it a bit about whether I've made the right decision . I suppose I can always return it if there is a problem anyway.
I starting to wish I'd gone for a higher end model now... I'm upgrading from a MSI Gaming Trio 3080.

Best CPU for gaming. You won't find any other CPU (aside from a 7950X3D) putting out these sort of CPU FPS numbers (when using a 4090) in Modern Warfare 2 at 1440P.
If you'd like to compare either the CPU or GPU performance to that of your CPU/GPU, place this file in your My Documents > COD > Player folder and overwrite the old file and run the MW2 benchmark.

Being an old fart, I'm hoping I won't notice bad coil whine as much as others... But general system noise is still something I try to keep to a minimum. With over-engineered coolers, are all 4090s reasonably quiet or are some models worse than others (I seem to remember complaints about fan rattle with one card)?
Thank you ChocAndGray im gonna be under water.Like yourself noise is an issue for me.
So much so that I now power limit everything.
A 4090 power limited will run at very low temps and so fan speed can be kept very low.
I have my fan curve set up so fans don’t tend to exceed 40% on a SuprimX and I can barely hear my pc.
There seems to have been fan rattle cases across a few different cards. Even the top end ones aren’t exempt. I went though an exchange of my card due to an annoying rattle causing resonance in the gpu shroud.
The strix also suffer from it too. The issue though appears to be rpm related often, so it can be bypassed by avoiding the particular rpms.
@malik22 afterburner is still the best software for over clocking, fan curves etc. although overclocking a 4090 is a fruitless venture.
There’s more to be gained by undervolting and power limiting.
I did initially try overclocking to 3000 core clocks, but ended up at 2700 at 0.95v and notice no difference in the games I play, but benefit from lower temps and reduced fan noise.
I've got that card as well, it's definitely a looker, one of the most beautiful ones. I've got it oc'd at +110 core and +1200 mem. Not a huge difference to be honest, mostly on Timespy. Thanks all, I'll report back tomorrow once I've installed the new PSU and 4090
