The Ada Lovelace RTX 4090 Owners Thread

excellent thank you :)

I thought given amount of connectors would be 600 but no big issue , can always flash later.

No coil whine , fans exhibit no noise either. Cant wait to waterblock end of month and new phantek nv7 case :)

That's the non OC version link, The OC shows 495W Max and 450W target

AIRO/AMP extreme seems to be 495 also, but I thought I'd read others using the top Zotac card BIOS on non Zotac cards as it was desirable and this higher max limit. Could be wrong.

debating returning my zotac trinity oc. Seeing how much others are getting on memory oc mine caps +1100 which seems like a dud.

Flashed GALAX bios but as expected made no difference in terms of memory oc.

Debating trying suprim x ‍♂️

Stick or twist lol

You going to return it because yours wont OC as well as other on the mem? Maybe yours, like mine on the core boosts really well before an OC. Mine stock will sit at 2900Mhz boost. Any OC will be measurable but you'd never feel it. BIOS flash wont make any difference to ability of memory to OC. Not all cards OC equally. Dunno why people bother OC'ing a 4090 unless you are a bencher of course - then you'd have gone for AMP extreme anyway. Gaming you'd never notice/feel an OC. All cards boost way past their advertised boost clock

Suprim if you want a high score - not if you are a gamer as they seem to more commonly suffer coil whine.

What does your GPU core boost to at stock and when OC'd when gaming?

really appreciate your reply as have serious ocd kicking in and trying to talk myself down. My core clocks to 3100 if push but will happyily sit at 3000 with +200 +70 +105 stock roughly 2800.

I did read that this gen mem oc plays more of a role with speeds but will only really apply to benching and won’t notice scale as well with games.

You speak sense of course and appreciate feedback re suprim.

That's pretty good for core overclock tbf, not many 4090s do over 3Ghz that easily.

Memory is definitely on the low end of the scale though, typically you can expect between 1000-1800, with most averaging in the 1400-1500 or so range.

If I was to return , I appreciate its pot luck but can anyone suggest brand to go for want to stay in 1800 - 1850 range.

My options I guess are only , suprim x , gigabyte oc or the auros. Which I will be adding water block to.

Top I achieve for memory with no crashes is 1200 , anything 1300 or above instantly crashes timespy.

I'd agree with Woodsta comments above, only really worth if it you are benching and chasing those extra few percent of performance.

That said, for 1800-1850 I'd probably go with the MSI Suprim X. Although they (Suprim X) all have coil whine, they have the best 4090 PCB going which can be helpful for squeezing a little extra performance out of the 4090 vs other models in lower tiers such as the Palit's Zotacs, PNYs, etc.

Well I don't OC but I consider anything over 3000 very good. The core will make the most difference and GDDR6X runs hot anyway. Those Mem clocks you are chasing maybe down to people on an open bench where fans are directed at the card and heat is easily dissapated. Chasing benchers overclocks wont be stable for gaming or quiet enough. Seems to me you have a great card for a gamer. That's a keeper in anyone's book.

Really appreciate all the feedback as my head is hurting deciding what to do I know it’s only a few percent but feel like have inferior product to others ‍♂️

Daft I know but common sense and general feedback suggest only difference I will see is benching and that I won’t see this difference in terms of gaming performance.

Again thank you all for feedback re ltmatt and Woodsta.

The 4090 memory is really weird, as it actually hates low temperatures and becomes unstable at higher clocks. The GameRock I had previously would cool the memory too well, which actually held back overclocking a little as I'd have to warm the memory up first before I could do the bench run. The Suprim X, although a better 4090 overall, has worse memory temps (reviews show this too) so it's actually better for overclocking the memory as it does not get as cool which means I can push the memory clock higher. Up to 1750Mhz stable on this particular sample, whereas the GameRock could not go much above 1500. So using a fan to try and cool the memory further on a 4090 is generally a bad idea. This does not usually apply to most other GPUs though.

i can get 1010Mhz extra on msi afterburner so my 4090 is on the low side but i love its a massive upgrade from my hd6950 2gb of vram so im like a goat on a overgrown lawn @ the mo :D

Great my FE isn’t even boosting to 2700 stock (actually 2660).
Temps are low ish. 64 on the core and 75 ish on hot spot and mem.

Just out of interest, how many on here will go to a 4090Ti when that releases?

I thought I would change my 3090 for the Ti but it released far too late into the generation. The 4090Ti will be releasing much earlier in terms of time between 4090 release to Ti release.

i will more than likely keep my 4090 for a few generations :)

I'll be skipping. I'll never need more than 24gb vram for games and a 15-30% uplift isn't worth the hassle or the money (and it will also lessen the jump for the 5000 series).

It’s arrived!

I just hope everything works as it should…

Edit: quick question for suprim x owners, was the outer box sealed in any way?
