Very unfortunate circumstances have caused me to be at home for the last two weeks with my daughter being very poorly in hospital. She has been diagnosed with MS and was told yesterday (not really the kind of news you want to hear when you are 22). We are giving her all the support we can and are hoping her recovery will leave her able to finish her degree and carry on with as close to a normal life as she can have.
Between visits to the hospital I have overhauled my farm (need to do something to keep me calm and positive), its now much cheaper to run and nearly twice as productive using half the ammount of rigs. As usual Ill only be able to run all the rigs when Im at home but when Im away I should be able to leave two quads folding which is still a pretty high ppd for the team.

A big welcome to all the newcomers. Welcome to the greatest F@H Team.

Excellent. moving up the leaderboard nicely, up 23 places glad i got the Windows SMP sorted.

Jesus mate, sorry to hear that. Good to see you're trying to keep it calm and together like you say. The earlier MS is diagnosed the better the prognosis is, especially for females, so stay positive.

Just noticed we are bearing down on AnandTech - never thought that would happen!

Great week everyone. 1.23 Million and rising! Let's see if we can reach the magic 200K PPD.

I am sure out of 153 active folders we can push out an extra 20-odd K points a day.

Only 34 people [as off most recent EOC stats] are outputting over 1K. 34 people are crunching at 146,600 PPD - approx 84% of the total PPD. 73.3% of the target 200K PPD.

So people, anyone with a dual/quad core CPU get the SMP client on there. Anyone who doesn't have a multi-core CPU - buy one

Borg as many machines as possible, even if you have to break into people's house to do it!


EDIT: Sorry to hear about your daughter, sculptor. Let her know a bunch of crazy nerds are thinking of her.

edit: oh and that's quite some crazy output you have there, also very cheap running costs compared to previous incarnations of your home farm

Just had a good read of the UK Multiple Sclerosis Society website (Intresting/Informative and very Posative) but I guess it's already bookmarked. - I guess their no harm in t’ai chi and fish oils making an appearance in your families lifes for everones benfit.

As to folding - just missed out on my 800k tiffy (by a few hours) and Dio is far to close for comfort - I least I've a stomp to look forward too

In other news - I need a favour - only those that live in / very near Manchester need apply. And access to a car is highly advantagous (as SB knows) as I need something collected boxed up and posted to me down in london.

I'll drive up if I must but if i can impose on a friendly folder I'd like to

Bah I just lost a 1760 point 2653 WU at 96% complete. I needed to do a re-boot after installing some stuff, closed the client down with Ctrl-C, waited for it to finish up properly for about 5 minutes and then shut down. Booting back up again ... starting from initial work packet !

Thanks for the news MR Millions. Production down a little plus I got a stray 1523 pointer. I got a 200k tiffy though

@sculptor. A family friend got MS many years ago. I'm sure the treatment & support has changed for the better. I still believe that a positive attitude is 1/2 the battle plus take full advantage of the help & support on offer. I alway drop something in the collecting tin for the MS Society whenever I see one.

She has had a much more positive day and even managed some walking though not too far. She is much brighter and her spirits are high.

One quad is misbehaving (two clients with broken pipes) so its having its bottom spanked by prime 95 as I type.

hmmm I don't live in or near, but there's a chance I may be up towards there in the next few weeks for work - don't know yet as we're waiting on someone else to sort their end out before I can go journeying
