The Radeon RX 7900 XT(X) Owners Thread.

i have a generation older 8700k, recently got the AW3423DWF to replace a 11 1/2yr old U2711. Getting a 7900xtx, trying to decide if I should get the sapphire pulse and or spend the £130 extra for the nitro+.
Planning on going 7800x3d in the coming months, till then wonder how much the cpu will bottleneck the gpu.
i depends mostly of your targeted frame rate and what game genre you play.
if you want to play at more than 120 fps and/or play mostly strategy games then you need a good CPU if not i5 / R5 CPUs are enought.
Honestly a lot of people are overestimating their CPU needs especially in 3K or 4K resolution. My rule is to spend as much money as you can afford on the GPU, then see how much you have left to choose a CPU. GPUs are doing like 85% of the job, then 13% CPU then 2% RAM sothing like that :)

After hours of trying to decide if I should save money and go pulse or splash the cash and go nitro+ I finally bit the bullet and just ordered the nitro+, now to impatiently wait a couple of days for it arrive.

Thanks for the reply, if possible would like to make as much use of the monitor’s refresh rate as possible. Play a variety of genres tho fps & rpg seem to be larger chunk of it, most recent has been hogwarts legacy which I’ve been playing on the steam deck on the tv but want to play on it on my pc to see how much better it is.

Good point on framerates Aresias.
I don't play fp shooters, or any online games, I don't need x-hundred fps and huge power usage in the games I play, so tend to use a framerate limiter anyway so perhaps bottlenecking won't prove to be much of an issue for me.
My monitor is 100Hz so I usually slap vsync on or set a frame cap at 100.

This purchase WAS overkill- it's way more than I realistically need, but my Vega was approaching retirement age, and I thought 'Go big!', so I did :D
I'm hoping it lasts me a good few years and multiple rig updates!

I’m almost afraid to ask. How did you pick your username.

You won’t be disappointed. Trixx software can be used to change RGB.

7900 xt for 799.99 with TLOU which I will be buying meaning if I sell my 3090 for 650 ish it could be a £100 upgrade? In the games I play I’ve noticed the 7900xt is a good 25% faster than my 3090 and it draws less power. Not too bothered about raytracing… hmm.. thoughts everyone?

Hows is everyone dealing with the Coil whine? I recently got an Asus TUF 7900 XTX OC, and the coil whine is horribly I didn't expect this to happen this badly on the GPU.

To get on The Owners List all you have to do is post a pic with your user name on it of your Radeon RX 7900 XT(X).

Sounds like good man maths to me, go for it.

You'll need to change it, a 5950X will bottleneck a 7900 XTX. Tbh, even a 5800X3D will, but not as badly as a 5950X.

Gaming at 4K max settings will help, but no idea if that's what you plan to run.

Will I see a performance hit with 5900x and a 7900XTX? Linked to LG OLED C1 65" I Plan on max settings 4K 120fps/120hz FSR Off. I mainly only really play CoD MW2.

Will be upgrading from a 6800XT - It runs really good as it is with FSR 2.1 - FSR set too Ultra and I'm at the screen max refresh rate most of the time. I just want to be able to run native 4K with the 7900XTX

With max settings in COD MW2, you'll probably be completely GPU limited with the 5900x and SAM enabled so you should be okay. Let us know how it goes!

If you ran lowest settings, your CPU probably wouldn't be able to render enough FPS to keep the GPU fully occupied with work, so the GPU utilisation would drop below 99%.

Anyone notice something that happened at this time stamp?

@LtMatt
Think he's a little salty about your scores lol.
Ah you noticed haha Lol. Beaten by me and my Nitro on air cooling with stock power limits. :D

He didn't like the fact that I had multiple entries in there, but that was because I kept beating my previous best score. Plus he was searching for the best 7900 XTX scores for Timespy Extreme.

If he'd looked in the TimeSpy Extreme Hall of Fame, he'd only ever find one entry in there per user.
