i depends mostly of your targeted frame rate and what game genre you play.i have a generation older 8700k, recently got the AW3423DWF to replace a 11 1/2yr old U2711. Getting a 7900xtx, trying to decide if I should get the sapphire pulse and or spend the £130 extra for the nitro+.
Planning on going 7800x3d in the coming months, till then wonder how much the cpu will bottleneck the gpu.
if you want to play at more than 120 fps and/or play mostly strategy games then you need a good CPU if not i5 / R5 CPUs are enought.
Honestly a lot of people are overestimating their CPU needs especially in 3K or 4K resolution. My rule is to spend as much money as you can afford on the GPU, then see how much you have left to choose a CPU. GPUs are doing like 85% of the job, then 13% CPU then 2% RAM sothing like that
