If I'm not massively into overclocking, is there a card I should look at? I was looking at the EVGA Black Edition. Don't really want to spend £1500~ for a card I'll be air cooling and not really pushing the OC.
If you don't care about oc at all. Get the black edition. But the Amp is one of the cheaper cards with an A revision chip on it. Which is a must if you want to do some serious OC. You can oc non A chip too, but it's locked at 280 watts max.
And as stated in my previous post, I run a xoc bios with 1000 watts limit.

So I would look for the cheapest A chip you can find.

Huge thanks for the bios mate. Works like a charm on my ref pcb Amp. Already bumped my scores in time spy from the 380watt bios.

Only downside is the dp issue. Otherwise, it's my daily driver, and I haven't had any issues.
Waterblock is pretty much needed though, since it's an xoc bios and disables pretty much anything that has to do with fans and rgb in general.

Guys I've never flashed a GC before. I've downloaded NVflash but want to find a definitive walkthrough of how to flash it. Really don't want to brick my card. Any links?

Would I be crazy to change a 2080 Ti Founders Edition for an Asus Strix OC now they have come down in price? I like the founders but it's getting to low 80c overclocked with a custom fan curve. More annoying than the clock dropping is the noise it's making. Wonder whether to stick it out until the 3080 Ti (or whatever) comes out or pull the trigger now.

Aren’t there AIOs for FE cards? That would solve all your problems and probably let you clock the same as expensive OC cards.

Gains seem awesome for attaching an aio. Not sure I trust myself to take the card to pieces though!

It really isn't difficult. I would imagine the AIO comes with instructions but just take your time and make sure you disconnect all the fan/rgb connectors as you take the heatsink off the PCB as the wires can be quite short. Somewhere like GamersNexus have some videos on stripping down GC. Watch one of those.

I'd think you'd want a 240 rad though for a 2080ti. I have an EK 240 which is 60mm thick and my old 1080ti loop and it could still hit low 50s c with shunt mod under full load gaming for over 30 mins. I'm thinking of adding another rad to the loop for my 2080ti when I fit the full waterblock to it.

what overclock are people getting?

Under water my card will stay at 2115. If the game is undemanding it will clock at 2130 and stay, but on demanding games when the temp hits about 38 it drops down to 2115.
I can set higher but then the card gets hotter so the line bounces more as it hits the power limit + higher temp. I like to see the clock line stay straight and found that it is a consistent straight line at the 2130/2115 mark. At this clock my power% hits a max of 123-124% the same as my bios. I guess what I am trying to say is that my card can do 2115 in any game without hitting the power limit meaning it doesn't clock down further. What are others finding theirs to be?

Mine bounces between 2000 and 2150mhz - asus strix with 125% power on air only

I see in you're signature you're using an OLED for gaming, any issues with burn in? I want to get a LG C9 this year (the 120hz version)

Tried installing the 380W BIOS? Shouldn’t be a problem for you running it on water.

[19-03-2019] PC Patch Notes for patch 1.0.280 (Patch #13)
We have just released the thirteenth PC patch for Shadow of the Tomb Raider, build 1.0.280. This patch focuses primarily on the release for the Nvidia’s Ray-Traced Shadows and DLSS.

This patch will be applied by Steam automatically when you next start the game. If your game does not update, please restart the Steam client.

New features included in this patch:
  • Nvidia’s Ray-Traced Shadows
  • Support for DLSS.

The following requirements must be met to be able to run Ray-Traced Shadows or DLSS:
  • Window 10 update 1809 or higher
  • Nvidia’s RTX 20- series GPU
  • Nvidia’s latest drivers 419.35 and up.

While we expect this patch to be an improvement for everyone, if you do have trouble with this patch and prefer to stay on the old version, we have made a Beta available on Steam, Build 279, that can be used to switch back to the previous version.

We will keep monitoring for feedback and will release further patches as it seems required. We always welcome your feedback!

I am using the 373w bios.
Im happy with my oc. Was just curious to see other peoples lowest clock bin on water in the most demanding games.
In the normal fe bios it could drop to about 2050 at the most demanding moments.
At 373w the highest power % hits 124%. Bang on the limit.
I could set 2160 and it will maintain in many games. But in the most demanding this will drop to ~2130 on occasion. So i set 2130 to see a straight line.

Sorry to hijack your quote, but interested in wgar you are at on the core clock to get that speed? I am at +135 and highest I have seen is 2070MHz and drops down and stays level at 2040MHz. Mine doesn't really bounce around. Whats temps and fan speed you using? Finding it tricky to get the right balance on mine. I am at a 1:1 fan speed pretty much and just stays under 70c

Ive had the screen a couple of years now. No burn in. I dont tend to browse much on it. Its mainly for gaming. Touchwood, but no burnt in crosshairs etc....
Definitely been the biggest upgrade to pq ive had for a long time. If your the type who sees a massive difference betweeb tn and ips. This jump is way bigger :)
However, i still use a 24 inch 165hz monitor for all my fps games. Sadly 60hz with some input lag saw my scores drastically fall im mp fps.

Agreed! OLED is amazing for games, one of the biggest upgrades I’ve ever made. HDR games look amazing.

Not only that but you get a great screen for movies, tv as well.

And I’m also the same. Still use my 1440p/165hz monitor for FPS games but all controller based games go on the OLED. Never had any issues with burn either.
