Hey
Just picked up a Vega 64 and had no display detected, Hope its as I only have a 650w psu so have ordered a better one to hopefully solve my issue.
650w is fine, that's what I'm using.

Yes also tried clearing CMOS.Are you on the latest bios version for your motherboard?
Question for Vega 64 owners about idle behaviour. I currently have a Sapphire nitro one and when I leave my pc for a while and it goes to the windows lock screen (WIN + L) or the monitor goes into standby, the clocks shoot up to ~1000MHz (GPU) and 800MHz (HBM). I know this because I left GPU-z running in the backgound after noticing a small whine while away from the PC which stops as soon as I log back in. Is this normal/do others experience the same?

For normal use, browsing the web etc, it does idle in the expected low range. It's only specifically when the on the lockscreen or monitor in standby that clocks shoot up and GPU-z shows zero activity. I'll try DDU and report backFollow the following steps
a) use DDU in windows safe mode.
b) wipe all GPU drivers including Nvidia, Intel and AMD (select each one and do a clean up without reboot except the last one)
c) use ccleaner to fix the registry, it should clear around 150 entries minimum.
d) install 18.11.1
Let us know how it goes
In general your behaviour is weird as the card idles to 35-40Mhz until something that uses it kicks in. Can you find what process was using the GPU?

Yeah follow my steps. I locked my screen last night when writing the post, and GPU was snoring at 35mhz.
The speed of the fans run at are dependent on the target temp you set in the Wattman; if you make the target temp higher, then obviously the fans will spin slower and quieter. Also you definitely need to look into undervolting the GPU, as the stock voltage of 1200mv is just too high; I can drop the voltage down to 1150mv (and with +50% power limit) and still overclock the core clock to 1667MHz stable.well it's in .. was going to wait ... all I can say is wow .. the fan noise .. so loud ..r290 was on water .. can't say i like the sound ..
