Well I’ve been playing around the past few days with undervolting and testing.

So far I’d say I’d much rather undervolt in the future than just max everything.

The card itself is running over 1800mhz at 0.8v with +1000 memory. Its hitting about 65% power limit at around 40-42c with fans at a maximum of 7-800rpm. Watercooled card of course. The system is whisper quiet.

And I must say the difference in power consumption and noise is massive. Coil whine has been eliminated and I’m losing all in all 4-5% in total performance vs a maximum overclocked card with full voltage. The card is pulling around 65% power limit under full load vs double that and some with an overclock.

Just worth a thought for those out there wanting to help silence their system without much of a performance drop.

That’s a real shame. I’ve had 2 FE and both were perfect. One running without issue for 3-4 months before I sold it. The other I returned in favour of an EVGA with longer/better warranty. Not thought about an EVGA card?

Cost me 40 euros for an upgrade to their 10 year warranty plan.

I actually had an EVGA card on preorder...until I saw the size and sheer ugliness of the thing (imo of course

). Went for the FE instead and it was a disaster. It's now at that awkward stage of whether to wait for the next gen or hope for a price cut.

Yeah they are horrendous looking in my opinion as well, when compared with the likes of the FE. The ftw3 doesn't look too bad though, especially in the flesh. But i went purely with mine for the warranty (with watercooling) as i was fitting a nice looking waterblock anyway

.

By the looks of things there should be a price cut soon i'd have thought with the super cards.

Thanks...I have to admit I'm very impressed with the Strix OC so far. I've had it set on the performance fan option and to be honest it doesn't get too loud, certainly not as loud as my 2080 FE. Seems like a solid clocker as well, just need to put a bit of time into testing it out and finding out how much I can squeeze out of the thing.

I'm certainly seeing the benefits at 1440p 144hz now

Try flashing the matrix bios, I did and no problems so far

Strix OC BIOS is limited to 325w, Matrix raises the power limit to 360w.

That's pretty much it, a higher power limit let's you overclock the card higher, assuming you don't have any issues with heat.

In reality, I'm not sure it makes a heck of a lot of difference. I already get 2150mhz on my strix with it's stock 325w bios
