Quite a bad week from myself. Lost 3 and a half completed units at the w-end, and have spent a good few hours running only a single crunching VM as I try to master Arch linux and it's non-crunchability (is that even a word?) problems. But everything's back to normal for the moment.

27. Team Hack-a-Day

STOMPIO!!!

Cheers Rich!

Thanks for the news, Rich! Welcome to all the new members, too :)

Been a pretty good week of production for me - definitely climbing up the rankings at a better rate now.

Woo top of SCL! :D

I know it wont last, especially if Cob gets back to full speed. Might actually get around to fitting the new cooler this weekend as I need to rearrange some components and sort out my cabling anyway! Also want to see how easy/hard it would be for me to modify my Stacker so I can put my PSU at the top.

Great work to everyone else. Keep them WUs coming and the leccy bills be damned! :p

Welcome to the new people who have joined this most illustrious team. Please put all belongings in the overhead storage compartments and keep all parts of your body within the vehicle at all times.

Some of you will know I have changed my SMP Guide website so it is now dynamically generated. Doesn't make much difference to you people [yet] but it makes it so much easier for me to manage. For the new people the site is at http://smp.aeternum.co.uk

If anyone has any errors/omissions or requests for info/features please let me know either through the "New Website" thread here in DC or using the contact form over at http://smp.aeternum.co.uk/contact

Thanks for the news mr millions.

Can i join and add some green to the list? :D ...PS3 folding?

The last time i used it on the console i was playing around with Linux at the time and ended up having to re-download the folding app, so it is now back, and if memory serves it takes 8 hours per workload, so i could leave it on all day really, would that be of use, self-proclaimed F@H n00b here.

When Stanford create a new WU they test it on a benchmark machine at their secret underground lair. They base the points on how long that machine takes to complete the WU and add bonus points for things like amount of RAM required etc.

Most WUs within a given range tend to have similar points. For example, the SMP WUs are generally between 1300 and 1700 points. The quicker you crunch a WU, the more points per day [PPD] you get. The higher your PPD, the quicker you go up the rankings. I believe the PS3 is rated at around 800-900PPD, which is pretty damn good.

The people with insane PPDs [2K +] are either running several machines or have very, very powerful single machines. The top 3 in the Single Crunchers league for example are all running just one Quad Core machine.

You can check on your stats and PPD at http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com

Just search for ocuk and then find your username in the list. You will have to await up to 3 hours after dumping your first WU to view your stats.

Thanks rich for the news - some really big numbers and the SCL is starting to boil at the top :D

So so week for me at 14th but if the SCL thread is to be beleived there'll be 5 single quad crunchers wooping my farm from now on!

My output will drop next week with the Seti gauntlett comp. (still not sure why I'm in it, but then again I can't really call my self a DC'er if i've never used Bonic) anyway....

welcome all the new folks, any question just ask, and to thoses that keep 'playing' with thier quads
- If it not broke, don't fix it :p :D

Cheers for the noob welcome, and for the explanation of the points Sirius.

Now if only it was cold, this heater folding next to me would be more practical if it was. :D

2 Hours until my first team WU!

In bed with your sister
Hey, nice work team

Bit of a hiatus this week - quad went down for a day or so, apparently after a power cut. By the time I noticed zero points for too long in my stats and got hold of my flatmate to switch it back on, I'd lost probably the best part of 3 days Folding :(

Never mind, all switched back on now and hopefully no more gremlins.

Thanks, as always to Rich for the news and a big Foldy type welcome to the noobs :)

God the new PS3 annoys me. Its a) cheaper and b) consumes 130watts of power against the 200watts version I have. It would make a much better folding box than the launch model.

Ugh. Rant over.

In unrelated news, PS3 for sale. In box, hardly used...

I just realised I've been in the single cruncher league all week

As I've been polishing up the old s@h for the gauntlet.

Rich what do I do? Actually don't worry I won't be crunching any WU's next week as the gauntlet starts on Monday.
