The RX Vega 64 Owners Thread

These scores are very low.

Try those settings and let me know how it goes.

Which scores look low? The firestrike one I put down to me using a 3570k. Maybe also a power issue as my PSU squeels like mad when I run the benchmarks.

That firestrike score was top 100 for my CPU/GPU combination.

To get on the Roll of Honour all you have to do is post a pic with your user name on it of your Vega 64.

With undervolt I'm getting highs of around 1575mhz though the p7 state is 1632, my temps under load are sub 65 do I need to increase the voltage a bit to get a faster clock?
There's no harm in setting the Core Frequency for P7 to 1750. The card will manage the voltage/power target and temp target to get the best performance out of the card possible for the settings input. It's likely to still hover at the 1575MHz to 1600MHz range, but having the core set too low can artificially lower the frequency as an additional cap. Something that's not really required ;)

Actually a better way to think of the Core Frequency setting is a target frequency. For instance my card is set to 1750 all the time. If I have 1200mv set then at idle on the desktop I'll hit 1786MHz and if it's set to 1250mv I'll hit 1806MHz idle. It drops massively under load so that with full load and 1250mv it'll hit 1720MHz in Firestrike 30MHz below the set value.

Going forward this is likely to be standard for GPU's and requires a different approach to overclocking. My approach is to unlimit all variables except one and then use that one to control the Power, Frequency and as a result Temp too.

Hi everyone. Brand new owner of a Sapphire Nitro+ Vega 64 here :D.

Slight snag is that as this was a bit of an impulse buy I don't have a PC to put it in yet. Hoping to scrape together a Ryzen 2600/2700 system with Black Friday deals.

Only thing that I'm really struggling with is what PSU to pair with the Vega 64. Review power consumption numbers seem all over the place and while I understand AMD recommends 750w there are various threads where people with much bigger psu's have run into problems.

I'm looking at the Corsair Rm750x which seems like a cracking deal on OcUK but I'm aware a good 650W should be able to run this in theory. Thought I'd ask here to get some real world insight as I'd rather just buy once!

Don't give it another thought, get the one with extra juice. No one regrets having a bigger PSU, plenty regret not having bought one with enough watts. Guilty of it myself.

Lowering the voltage will lower the core speed a bit, but the difference in actual performance is tiny.

By far most of the gains come from overclocking the HBM2 memory and it's not even worth touching the core on Vega really. Unless your purely looking for benchmarking points.

Does anyone know why when I set the memory over 1025mhz in Wattman, it then never goes over 800Mhz? I'm used to Nvidia Cards where if you set a Memory Clock too high, it will run it and then artefact. but with this I can set it to 1025mhz and it's fine and will run at that speed, but anything above and it's like it default backs to lower clocks.

It means the HBM voltage is too low. Try increasing it in 25mV increments. I had the same stuck at 800 issue when trying to do 1100MHz at 950mV but once I bumped it to 975mV it worked

Thanks man that was exactly it. I don't think I understood exactly what that setting was doing, got it running at 1100mhz now.

Hi guys been trying the Benchmark on Rise of tomb raider 1440p on a vega 64 during the second phase of the benchmark right at the beginning the game stutters and when it provides the Results for the second bit Syria Framerate goes to MIN 15 but gives me a Total average of 93 is this Normal ?

Edit i tried Moving game to my Boot SSD the stutter was worse it seemed i tried to run the benchmark a second time and my pc Shut down (looked like a loss of power)

If it's powered off it sounds like your PSU might not be up to the job. What PSU do you have and what were the cards temperatures like during the benchmark?

@Panos did you get a chance to take a pic of your nitro+ with the bykski block on it?

Mine arrived Saturday, installed Monday and haven’t had a chance to even play with it yet :(

Ahh the back plate forgot mate with the house going for sale and the work needed.
I will do so within the hour

No rush, watercooling my rig Is low on my list at the moment. Just interested to see what it looks like :)

Going to give the settings you posted a few pages back a whirl tonight on my card and see how I get on!

Here they are

As you see used the long ones with the springs and retention bracket, contrary to the manual, because I used liquid metal. If you use normal thermal paste not needed.

UPDATE. Since I was cleaning it today, even if the advertisement for the Bykski is for cooper, does it feel like cooper to you?
I know there is no comparison to the huge amount of metal compare to the Watercool Heatkiller IV (which is three times as thick and very heavy), however holding it on my hand today after 4 months, something doesn't feel right.
