How good is your air flow through the case, it will need to be good as the Vega will be pushing out lot of heat into the case?

You can check by taking of the side panel and see if the temps of your card/CPU comes down.

Your NZXT Kraken X52 AIO cooler, location roof or front?

Any other fans?

I think air flow is pretty good... 2 front mounted fans, one rear, AIO had to be mounted on roof.

Been monitoring temps last night and CPU barely went above 50 , so I don't know what was going on the other night when they hit 70..

Definitely going to plan a new case build in new year. Probably R6 and front mount the AIO.

You should have good air flow with all these fans in your case.

Maybe it was a software cooling fan profile problem that caused CPU to hit 70degC

Are your case/AIO fans linked to any software that controls them?

AIO fans are controlled by CAM software, have a custom profile setup for them...

Do I have to load and apply my Wattman profile every time I load Windows?

I've finally got my card running at 1600 in game (took a lot of buggering around, believe me, it wanted to run at 1100 all the time !) just wondering if I need to load up the profile all of the time, or can you get it to auto apply it?

it should auto apply....but if your wattman is anything like mine it will occasionally 'forget' - i've tried some of the suggested fixes (turning off fast boot) which did help but i still randomly on switch on had to load my profile. msi afterburner has a button to 'load profiles' on windows start up which seems to work for me (as long as afterburner is set to load with windows)

OK so now my card is boosting to mid 1500s without me continually having to bugger with it. Cool beans :)
From testing I can see 1600MHz actual boost under load in Superposition with Air cooling limits.

Core
P6 - 1702MHz 1000mV (if card is capable drop to 950mV)
P7 - 1750MHz 1055mV

HBM2
P3 - 1050MHz 950mV (adjust P3 MHz higher or lower depending on your cards abilities)

Settings should boost to core 1595MHz at 100% load, or higher as load decreases.

Disable all other's for this profile (intended for gaming). Should hit ~230W according to Afterburner which is under stock 240W power limit. Haven't found a game that's as challenging to GPU power draw so far. Though obviously mileage may vary. Set fan speeds to suit ones needs.

Have you set the p7 frequency to 1697mhz? If you haven't, I'd try it. my Sapphire would be faffing around 1550mhz, until I raised the P7 state frequency to 1697 and voila, it now runs solid at 1630mhz + or - 15mhz
Could some one with a Lc bios please help me, either A: My card is just a bit of potato or B: I use the wrong LC bios but..

When i use a Lc bios (i am watercooled ek-fc custom- temps at 50.c max) it crashes, also when on a 64 bios (maybe i could do with someones help to find the best one) and i set the p7 to 1697 as mentioned above ... it crashes.

If someone kind could help me so I can run this max that i can considering i spent so much on cooling it, that would be very christmassy and kind.

Try the latest 64 BIOS rather than the LC BIOS then. Seems like only some cards like the LC BIOS, mine being one of them, however if I use the stock 64 BIOS for my card or one of the new ones, it craps out hard. Sounds like your card is a 64 BIOS card which will likely respond to the latest 64 BIOS better than the LC.

Could also be your card doesn't like high frequencies. Mine doesn't like anything above 1760MHz if I set it to that. I know it can run as high as 1800, but if I set 1800 it crashes instantly.

So the latest reference bios or someother one?

I had a reference 56 , bought from here last september and that one was amazing, i flashed it to the lc bios and it would happily run at 1750 but obviously was too hot to do so, this is why i waterblocked this 64 but it wont perform anywhere near as well.
Which LC bios should i use precisely, which works for you? (do you have a reference 64?)
if not, which 64 bios should I use , from your experience as the best one?

Hey,
So I run it at 1632 and it gets about 1590-1600mhz at probably 55.C max undervolted and hbm 1050mhz and 1000mv , i've tried different undervolts of 1050 , 1100, or 1070, 1120 but still cannot get the core to OC when set to 1697 or 1675 ...
I use thermal grizzly kyronaut

I have a reference V64 (HIS) and use the 8774 BIOS. Again it works for me, but I've noticed that the majority of V64 ref cards don't like the LC BIOS, so in some ways I was lucky as I was waterblocking anyway, in others had I stayed with stock BIOS I would have been lamenting a lemon as it only performed ok if the fan was on max.

On Techpowerup there's an 8892 BIOS in the unverified BIOS section. It may suit your needs. It may not. Not sure if the LC BIOS will fix the core setting issue. I know I can set to 1750MHz and 1055mV will hit ~1595MHz under load in Superposition though.

Only reason I see for LC BIOS is instability with stock BIOS or a desire to hit 1250mV on Core :D
