The Radeon RX 7900 XT(X) Owners Thread.

These settings are what I use with Cyber-Punk with ray tracing enabled, and I have gone for stability more than anything else. I normally tune per game.
Max frequency 3000 / Min 500
VRAM 2700
Power tuning 15% (Max)
Voltage 1150
SAM enabled.
yeah pretty much same, DCS dont like it at 3000 so have to run it @2950 which gives me a game clock in the mid to high 2900s. my ram is the same as yours @2700 and upped power to 1100. even with the power @1150 it still doesnt like 3000 but this is plenty fast enough for me. temps are 40-45 on the core and 60-70 on the hot spot

Guys I can't read 134 pages of text . I sold my 3080ti fe for making too much heat around me snd making me sleepy.. As I read 7900xt pulls similar wattage but has better memory temps (my 3080ti had 104c memory).. Should I expect same heat dispersion with 7900xt or? I was looking at xfx merc or saphire pulse model..

Planing to buy either 1440p 240hz or uw1440p 144hz so will just be running one monitor. I guess running it at lower hz when not playing is not such a big problem.

I have a 165hz 3440x1440 monitor and if I have a standard wallpaper the idle power is 10-30w, for single normal monitor use the idle power is perfectly normal. I do use an animated wallpaper and this puts the idle power over 90w but thats to be expected.

You'll be better with a 4070 and undervolt it slightly, it'll pull roughly half the wattage as the 3080 with the same performance.

Also maybe buy some amphetamines for gaming sessions :D

Ah that makes me feel more confident, thank you both !

Just to add I'm the same here, I have a 240Hz 1440p and idle power on my 6800 XT is about 7W, though if I turn off Freesync the memory doesn't downclock and it increases to the 40's, and idle temps climb to around 50°c.

Still, I only discovered this when disabling Freesync for some bench runs. In normal use there's no reason to turn it off.

I also get the high power with 2 monitors depending on their refresh rate, but that's not an issue in my case as I tend to disable the second screen (TV) when not gaming on it.

Hi guys, Ive had my eye on a 7900 XTX for while so I picked up the Nitro+ when it hit 1099....

Out came the 6800XT with its Water block and in went the Nitro+ with just the CPU plumbed in.

It just about fits in the Kolink Matx Case. The case does not support 3 slot vertical mount (it will with a bit of modding) so its propped up on some foam and some tubing. The 3 PCIe power connectors stabilise the card. The card has to be fitted into the case at an angle and it cant physically fall out.

Glass side panel has to be left open with using the PC for gaming. I will Water block it soon but not in any rush. Its one beast of a card very cool running. Small OC and Undervolt.

Hats off to my release day reference 6800XT its served me really well but I really wanted that next gen tech upgrade.
I love that this card can really push my LGC1 65" OLED TV games look and run awesome at Native 4K with 120Hz/120FPS. Love this purchase and thanks to you all here for the replies and tuning info. :)

@Kaapstad - another proud Nitro+ owner for you to add to the list. Ordered it a few days ago and have given it a proper hiding since. No coil whine, smooth RGB and all 3 fans work accordingly... also, the RGB header stayed on this time!

To get on The Owners List all you have to do is post a pic with your user name on it of your Radeon RX 7900 XT(X).

A general question to those who own, in particular, the 7900XT, altho it applies to the XTX as well.
Overall how do you find the performance and stability of these cards compared to your expectations...?
Are you happy enough, in particular if you have switched from an Nvidia card...?

Do any of you play non AAA type titles and are they also running fine....? Thinking of driver support etc in Indie game type titles.

Thanks.

Im more than happy with mine. Seems very stable although my particular card doesn’t seem to undervolt as well as some others. But with a decent CPU its a beast.

Pulse 7900 XTX

I was experiencing crashing due to a corrupted OS but since I reinstalled I am having no issues, performance and stability is great. I do not play many AAA titles and horizon zero dawn is the most gfx intensive game I have played with it so far. I have xtx but the driver experience with an xt would be exactly the same.

Indie games often use older DX standards and in general AMD have adhered to this standard far more strictly than Nv. I would not forsee any issues with indie games with either AMD or Nv unless the game is developed badly. I have over 2k hours played in Battle Brothers and that will have been played on a 6800 so AMD have no serious issues with indie games imo.

Would you say Insurgency Sandstorm was an indie game? Its quite a small studio by all accounts.

This is a DX11 game. The drivers for this have been fixed for the last 2 years so I cannot see it being an issue with any current gpu. Focus entertainment have released some recent games that run pretty darn well and do not have issues. Game such as Atomic Heart and Plague tales requiem, they are not clowns like EA use.

If you do order a card make sure to test it fully in the first week and if it does not meet your needs due to driver issues then send it back under the distance seller regulations. We cannot for certain tell you it will work perfectly with your system but it should.

In general most driver related issues are with newer releases and older games and especially those that run on older DX standards will run perctly ok.

That is very encouraging. Thanks for the replies. It seems there should be no, or very little, issues AMD specific.

Do you all use the latest drivers..?

I am on 23.4.1 , the latest is 23.4.3. Where I do not play AAA titles I do not feel the need to update that often. I like to leave it a couple of weeks so if there is an issue with a driver someone else will have found the problem. If I can manage to login to steam I will be getting AOW4 today and will be first time I have played a game on release day for over a year. Last game I played on release day was WH3 and that ran fine on my RDNA2 6800 , Nv had more issues with that game on release but all fixed for WH3.

I have used AMD and Nv cards over the years and never had driver issues that could not be fixed with a driver reinstal or at worst repair windows. If a person is constantly moaning about drivers then imo they have either faulty hardware or a messy OS

There was an issue with drivers a month or so ago where it was corrupting win10 instals and I guess that is what happened to me. Couple of swear words and windows reinstal and it was all fixed.

Finally got around to installing my 7900xt Nitro from the Gibbo special.

This is my first AMD card in absolutely ages ( i think the last one i had might have been a 9700 pro!!)

Have run the free Timespy and Firestrike benches and the scores seem to be in the ballpark i think and things seem stable so far. Bit of coil whine at high FPS but i think that is a given on most GPU's these days.

Never had such a ludicrously big GPU before. Made me laugh when i opened the box.

The cooler seems pretty epic. Didn't go above 60 degrees in any of the bench runs, and was very quiet.

Love the aesthetics of it - part of the reason i went for the Nitro is the colour and LED stuff.
