A great big warm welcome to the team!

If you haven't done so already then why not check out the Folding@Home Setup Guide and the Quickie Guide for more foldy-tastic tips especially for when you're in a rush

A great week all round - despite a very minor drop in production we've made impressive gains on all the teams we're chasing down and only the PlayStation.com Forums guys managed to make any ground on us
A big team congrats on passing the 100mil mark - plenty of other good tiffie's out there so get showing them off also :)

Fold on Team 10!!!

If you've not been mentioned either I've made a mistake or your stats haven't changed since last week - give a shout and let us know you're still alive :o

First of all the username CHUCHUNDRA made me choke on my beer with laughter. That's great. Welcome to the new members. :)

Slipped a couple of places this week as I've been messing with the box and the other day it spontaneously turned off overnight - I think Vista shut itself down to update - and lost a fair few hours folding. I bet if it had stayed on we'd have pretty much broke even this week on points. Ah well.

Well done everyone, members past & present, for the big tiffy this week. It's a great achievement. Hopefully the time, energy and charity we give now will reap many benefits for future generations.

Thanks again for the news Rich. :)

Yay broke the 10,000 barrier for the first time in months (probably thanks to someone else tho).

Sadly I've had to sell my E6600, so I'm running a non-VMWare friendly E2180 for a bit. Haven't had time to clock it or set up the WinSMP client yet, and I've a new mobo coming tomorrow to play with over the weekend.

And hopefully I'll have a little surprise coming to me before the end of next week ;)

Cheers Rich :)

Thanks again rich :)

I got about 5.5 days worth of production this week, had a couple of hiccups with the diskless system but overall I'm pleased. Got into the top 200 too :) When is it prudent to parp someone? Maybe when I get closer to the top 100 and when the person I will soon stomp has a decent production i.e. 500+?

Now that I've got it bedded in I think its time to have a go at overclocking :) My first time, hope I don't break anything :p Any suggestions as to what FSB/voltages I should be going for first?

I don't bother with parps (back in the day I thought it meant breaking wind, don't ask) but generally if they post around here then knock yourself out. :)

Disclaimer: I ain't no expert at overclocking. But basically I whacked my fsb straight to 333 and adjusted the RAM divider to accommodate, which is a bit naughty since you're supposed to up the frequency gradually and stress test it. I didn't need to bump the voltage but some chips need a little more juice to reach higher speeds. It depends what overclock you want to get out of it. I'm happy with mine at stock volts and it has decent temperatures. However don't adjust the voltage until you've done some more research and for God's sake don't just bump it up as high as it will go. :D

If you're an absolute newbie to overclocking maybe have a scout round the overclocking forum or just ask questions, there will be someone more than willing to help. :)

Thanks for the news rich, nice to see all that green up top :D

Out of the top 20 again :( but I'm at work today unlike the last two fridays so that means a weekend of smp production ;)
Also have my hacksaw with me - so might even finish my build log and get my watercooling active again.

Welcome all you new folks and keep em crunching :)

Edit: oh what a lot of smilies

howdy folks, my first week in here , nice to see my name on the board and not totally at the bottom like I used to be with a useless athlon xp2200 and seti. I've got my machine running 24/7 now, just got to get this smp client thing worked out and running and that should help me, and also sort out some cooling issues and i'll be able to use four cores instead of three to keep the temps down and fan noise still low. Also got me mum's machine temporarily crunching while it's at my house, and sneakily crunching on one core while it's at her house - she's never gona use 100% cpu anyway! shh.

So hopefully next week i'll be on here with quite a bit more than a score of 1,111 :)

good stuff people!

Another flat out week for me - two week 24/7 in a row - uptime of 18 days now! Missus still moaning about computer being left on all the time but hey ho!

Onwards and upwards. Some parps to come soon also!

Fold on team 10 and welcome to the new members.

Cheers for the news

quick question, moving back to SMP clients, what is the correct method for proper termination, as despite using ctrl-c, SMP is kicking a fuss about improper shutdown, though still enables SSE boost. do i ignore it or is there a better way as id rather it not start dumping WUs in a fit like it did last time i used SMP
