Thanks for the news rich, appreciated as always.

I think the reason why my production is down over the last few weeks is my borged machines at work were turned off while I was away on holiday - thats now changed so I should be above 100k again soon!

Thanks, as always. Fingers crossed for the recovery. :)

I think I'll probably make a final push to get to 4mil and then consider my future. I really don't have the inclination to spend time working with unstable SMP clients any more so may go all-Rosetta, or just quietly put my crunchers into semi-retirement. I won't go away completely as my two fastest PCs are always on anyway.

I'm also not far off my 10-year anniversary, which isn't a bad innings really.

This is the first time i've ever seen so many (16) OcUK team members over 6000 ppd. Things are looking up.

Do we not have any i7 or phenom II crunchers yet?

Which clients are you using these days? I've found mine are a whole lot better since I switched my Ubuntu SMPs from VMWare 1.x to 2.0, though they do very occasionally finish a WU then forget to carry on - would be a problem if it wasn't the PC I use everyday.

10 years isn't a bad innings at all - glad that we'll not be seeing the back of you anytime soon either. Think I first got into DC at the end of 2001 with SETI so I have a while to go yet :p
 
I agree with Rich - the VMs are a bit of a pain if you turn off your pc a lot, but the smp clients have been almost problem free (as far as i can remeber, only one WU failed to upload, but this was fixable). Maybe you could try switching from windows to linux? Its not hard to configure - i would say its probably easier then the winSMP client, and a lot more stable.

In other news, we've been stomped again.... with XS very close behind. I think forum wide recruitment is in order!

Think mine was more down to Vista not wanting to play nice with it - also the USB stick I was using for ReadyBoost seemed to go bad around that time so that could have been it - all been fine since then though :)

edit: Sorry had to dispel any rumours that I might be in the habit of turning my PC *** regularly :D
 
Lol - i wondered what was going on for a minute - was shure i had not used any stupid slang/bad words! I did not wish to insult any crunchers by implying that you may turn off your machines. :D I obviously just cant keep pace...
